I have been living in Georgetown for about 4 years. Since my move from Austin I have made a transition from paying attention to Austin news, to keeping an eye on Georgetown news.
Previously, I would watch local stations on television at night, before I would go to bed; and in the morning while eating breakfast or just before heading out the door. The stations that I watched were; KXAN, KVUE…and I used to watch Sesame Street with my kids in the morning…
At the moment, I have not been receiving my news from television unless I am at a restaurant or a nail shop and they have a cable news network showing. Furthermore, I do not get much of local news. They send a local paper in the mail, once I receive it, I glance it over and then toss it in the recycle bin.
So now, the news that I receive is mostly from stories that are shared by the news sources I follow on social media. Some of those news sources are: MSNBC, Austin American-Statesman, & The BBC. It’s a lot easier for me to access news this way because I always have my phone with me.
Some of these sources that I have “liked” do reflect my personal points of view or biases and as a result, it is supporting my views. So some may say that I an receiving once sided news. However… I believe that some of my sources are neutral and they provide fairness in the ways they report the news.
